Overview
Safair Operations, trading as FlySafair, is hiring first officers for four South African bases. The first officer reports to the fleet captain and supports the safe conduct of flights, monitors aircraft systems and operating conditions, and follows company procedures and aviation regulations. The employer accepts applicants without a type rating and regards a Boeing type rating as an advantage.
Responsibilities
Assist the captain with flight preparation, operational decisions and safe aircraft operation. Monitor the route, weather, flight restrictions and aircraft status. Follow flight manuals and company procedures, complete required reports and assume command if the captain becomes incapacitated.
Requirements
- Hold a SACAA commercial pilot licence, Class 1 SACAA medical and Grade 12 or equivalent. Have at least 1,500 flight hours, including 500 multi-turbine hours, and multi-crew experience. SACAA ATPL is preferred. A Boeing type rating and experience on commercial jets over 20 tonnes are advantageous. South African citizenship with proof of identity, valid South African passport, a local driver licence and own transport are required. Applicants must be willing to work irregular roster hours, sign applicable training bonds and undergo drug and alcohol testing. The employer requires a clear criminal record and knowledge of SACAA and ICAO regulations and pilot licensing.
