Performance desk · release the arrival
Combine field length, climb limits, structural limits and brake cooling in one arrival case.
What is the highest mass that satisfies the complete arrival?
Read the supplied AFM or performance-data sheet for landing mass, flap, pressure altitude, temperature, wind, slope, runway condition and installed system status. Identify whether the output is unfactored landing distance, factored dispatch field length, or an actual-condition arrival distance. Apply only the margin belonging to that definition.
Invert the correct landing data
Read the supplied AFM or performance-data sheet for landing mass, flap, pressure altitude, temperature, wind, slope, runway condition and installed system status. Identify whether the output is unfactored landing distance, factored dispatch field length, or an actual-condition arrival distance. Apply only the margin belonging to that definition.
An inverse reading from LDA gives field-length-limited mass. Separate tables give approach-climb and landing-climb limits; structural maximum landing mass is another ceiling. The maximum allowable landing mass is the lowest of all applicable ceilings. Compare the actual estimated arrival mass, including fuel changes since the original plan, with that maximum.
Finish with thermal and operational feasibility
For the stated mass and deceleration procedure, read absorbed brake energy or the cooling index and then the required cooling time under the stated initial-temperature/ambient/fan assumptions. Interpolate only as authorised. A quick-turnaround restriction can remain even where the immediate landing is permissible.
At arrival, reassess the actual runway condition, braking information, wind, speed/configuration and applicable landing-distance margin. Recheck go-around/approach capability and the current landing mass. If either the stopping or climb case fails, a longer strip, lower mass, another approved configuration or diversion may be needed. Do not turn an unsupported optimistic interpolation into a landing release.
Can you make the performance decision?
Four original questions. Work from the stated conditions and review the reasoning.
